Negli Stati Uniti, la festa della mamma viene celebrata la seconda Domenica di maggio. In alcuni paesi è stato cambiato in date che sono stati significativi per la religione di maggioranza, o di date storiche. la data prefissata per festeggiare tutte le mamme è nata nella seconda metà dell’Ottocento e il primo Mother’s Day,venne celebrato nel 1905. Il ruolo della mamma all’interno della famiglia doveva essere di primaria importanza in un giorno festivo che poteva essere celebrato in tutto il mondo.
